The Book of Jasher, Book 1, the first book in the Jasher series

The Scar of Cain, Book 1

Most would agree that there is far too much of our ancient history steeped in religion and myth to make it possible for any serious, objective examination of the life and struggles of our antediluvian ancestors. Is this by accident or design? And, if by design, to what purpose? Within the limited boundaries of historical fiction, this book, as well as those sequels that follow, attempts to address those questions. I have tried, whenever possible, to write where history, religion and myth have meshed to provide a fresh and hopefully accurate perspective of historical characters and events. Since the backdrop of this book deals with ancient historical characters, I felt it fitting that an historian should be the focus character of my story. In this case, an ancient historian by the name of Jasher was selected to record the often overlooked details of the historical narrative down through the ages. It is through his eyes and hand that we see a clearer mosaic of where our social history was and still is. If history repeats itself then why, in what way and who might be responsible. As historical characters are reintroduced with a deeper understanding of their roles in the unfolding of the human drama, these points are addressed and perhaps answered. The Scar of Cain represents a work of historical fiction designed to satisfy and entertain those who are curious about our ancient ancestors and clarify their historical roles.

Time moves ever onward, and civilization with it. Meanwhile, the evil influence of Cain continues spreading throughout the world. In the latest installment of Jasher's saga, Jasher must travel through history to prevent Cain from ensnaring humankind in his evil schemes.

Cain has existed since the beginning of man and has spent millennia scheming to take away humanity’s freedom of choice. From a utopic society founded by the lost tribes of Israel to the Mayan city of Lamanai, his reach continues to expand. The only person who can stop him is Jasher, a scholar who is no longer content to simply sit back and be a passive observer. As Jasher finds new allies in his fight against Cain and his dark society, the Clan of the Scar, he bears witness to some of the greatest events in human history.

These events, however, aren’t all proud accomplishments. On his journey, Jasher finds himself in the midst of the Spanish Inquisition and the kingdom’s horrific reign of terror. Jasher has seen how Cain’s promises corrupt the hearts of men and turn them into evil pawns. Can the historian save humanity from falling for Cain’s insidious lies?

Two centuries have passed away, yet the ancient conflict to restrict the personal choice of mankind has only become more heated. Cain continues to roll out this agenda through wars and civil strife while Benjamin Jasher must find a way to record those efforts and hold Cain to account for the chaos he creates. In the fourth installment of Jasher's saga, The Journey Home, the reader is introduced to Jasher’s account of the Crimean War, as well as the American Civil War. During those two conflicts, Cain begins to use his financial influence to plan and instigate world wars to strengthen and widen his influence of a one world government. Jasher, knowing the time grows closer toward Cain’s eventual take over, must move his records and store them in the mountain vault now located somewhere in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. Cain has long looked toward the day when Jasher would attempt such a move and so gathers his forces to confiscate the documents and destroy them. As he begins to pursue Jasher, he vows to destroy the mountain vault as well. Jasher is forced once again to outwit his ancient enemy, this time against the backdrop of the American western frontier.
